Pocklington is an attractive market town nestling at the foot of the beautiful Yorkshire Wolds: Popular with walkers and cyclists, Pocklington is an excellent base for exploring the surrounding countryside via the many nearby footpaths and and cycling routes – details of which you will find in the cottage. The town is friendly and bustling particularly on a weekend or market day (Tuesday) and has everything you could need. Shops, cafes, bars, restaurants and the arts, and all within a short walk from your door.
Getting around
The medieval walled city of YORK is a 13 mile drive West of Pocklington. With its famous Minster, castle, museums and the beautifully preserved half timbered buildings of the Shambles, York is a fabulous day out – and, as our guests have found, the cottage is a lovely place to return to after a day of sightseeing.
Travelling East and North from Pocklington, you will encounter typical East Riding market towns and villages, including the historic County town of Beverley with its own Minster and two market squares. Heading towards the east coast, you may like to visit the village of Burton Agnes with its beautiful Hall and gardens. On the coast itself there are the famous fishing and resort towns of Bridlington, Flambourough, Filey, Scarborough and Whitby.
